Hello hello everyone! My name is Piper Even, and I’m from Portland, Oregon. I attend Washington State University and am currently in my junior year. I am a Communication major with an emphasis on Public Relations and a minor in Sports Management.
I work at the Gray W. Legends Lounge located in the football complex. I assist professional chefs and nutritionists by serving meals to all the student
athletes on campus. The lounge has a stunning view overlooking Martin Stadium, which makes it a popular area for the athletic department to host various events. I help delegate these events and serve WSU athletic donors and alumni. I also work for Pullman Parks and Recreation as a youth volleyball official. Through my officiating, I am able to connect to the community of Pullman and make a difference on their youth sports.
One day I hope to work in the sports industry as a promotional writer and
reporter for large golf tournaments across the country. My passion in sports
writing is not limited to golf, my interests also include baseball and
football.

My family exposed me to sports my entire life which is where my passion for sports originates. I found this passion of sports through the wise words of my grandfather who was a respected football coach at Palomar College, and my uncle, Mark Wiebe who played professional golf his entire life in various tours such as the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour. My older brother has been a huge role model of mine as well. He was an inspiration to me by chasing his dream and playing collegian football for the past five years at multiple universities and currently attaining his Masters degree. I have fallen in love with the passion and raw emotions that are connected with sports.

I am a quick learner, enthusiastic about the job at hand, and have great interpersonal skills. Through my job experiences at WSU, I have learned how to serve and tend to public figures in the athletic realm. I have gained confidence through these interactions and have learned to be comfortable in such an atmosphere. My work ethic is fast paced and energetic and I am always a team player when working in a group. I always bring a good aura to a work place with a “can do!” attitude and a smile always on my face to ensure customers feel welcomed.
I enjoy staying active and exploring the beautiful town of Pullman by going on walks every day. My favorite place to walk is the Palouse Ridge Golf Course because it reminds me of my family. While many individuals in my generation have brushed golf off as a boring sport, I find it to be quite the opposite. When I watch golf I see mental strength, focus, and a lovely setting in nature.
In this blog, my goal is to promote golf, a sport that is often looked over by the new generations. Golf is a lifelong sport that will refuse to be forgotten.
